Welcome!

My name is Leïla Parmentier Emmanuel, I am a Qualified Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher, Mindfulness Instructor and Founder of Mindfulness Paradigm.

Helping others develop their Self-Awareness to build their own Resilience and reach a higher sense of Well-Being has been my greatest source of fulfillment since I started teaching Mindfulness.

I discovered Mindfulness meditation and its benefits in 2016, during a one-year break, after having experienced Burnout. Upon my return to the workforce, I enrolled in the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) 8-week program which transformed my life—or rather the way I was relating to it—and my practice has become an essential part of my daily routine ever since.

I have spent many years studying Chronic Stress to understand its effects on our physiology and mind, and in my quest to find better ways to manage my own stressors and improve my overall mental health—having to learn to deal with a Chronic Condition and a tendency towards Anxiety and Depression—Mindfulness has led me to reconnect with myself, appreciate life in a new way and find means to flourish as an individual.

Before focusing on teaching Mindfulness to help others find their own center, I spent close to 15 years in the Banking Industry in various roles. Knowing first-hand the difficulty of finding a sustainable work-life balance in a demanding environment, and the hidden cost of chronic stress, I feel particularly enthusiastic about helping companies support the Mental Health of their employees.

Modern Life can be Demanding

Many of us find themselves challenged by numerous demands. Being in the professional or personal sphere, the Expectations that others place on us—and that we often put on ourselves—can feel Overwhelming at times, and set us Out of Balance:

  • We live on Autopilot, as if life was happening to us, instead of feeling vibrant and alive,

  • We rarely get—or take—the space and time we truly need to recharge our batteries,

  • We often live on the edge of exhaustion, dragging ourselves from milestone to milestone and delaying our need for rest and pleasure,

  • We frequently prioritize work and other commitments (e.g. caring for someone else) over our own self-care.

Over time, left unchecked, this pattern can lead us to a state of Mental & Physical Exhaustion up to the point of Nervous Breakdown, as a result of prolonged Chronic Stress that has not been successfully managed—also being referred to as a “Burnout” in the professional context.

By guiding us into cultivating a different relationship with the things that challenge us in our life, Mindfulness can help us develop a greater Awareness of our own needs, gain Perspective, build Resilience, and take better care of ourselves by nudging us to choose more supportive coping strategies for ourselves.

Through those mechanisms, Mindfulness can help us Reclaim Agency over our own life, support our Well-Being and protect us from exhaustion and burnout, so that we can continue to do the things we love, be present for the people in our life, and live a fuller & happier life—not one that feels consumed by a never-ending list of elusive targets and to-dos.

“Awareness gives you your life back. You can then decide what to do with it.”

“No one can listen to your body for you. To grow and heal, you have to take responsibility for listening to it yourself.”

Overwhelm: the feeling “that our lives are somehow unfolding faster than the human nervous system and psyche are able to manage well.”
